STEPS is a purpose-built 23-bedroom, unique rehabilitation facility, able to deliver high-quality care from a range of medical and rehabilitation specialists on Abbeydale Road, Sheffield. It is a unique environment that provides rehabilitation to clients who have suffered serious injuries and debilitating neurological illnesses.

STEPS has been designed to feel non-clinical, comfortable and homely and we hope you will agree STEPS is like no other care facility you will have worked in. Our specialists work collaboratively under one roof and clients can access a wide range of therapies and specialist robotic and VR rehabilitation equipment. You will be working within our interdisciplinary team comprised of Consultants in rehabilitation medicine; spinal injuries, amputations, anaesthetics, plastic surgery and pain management, physiotherapists; occupational therapists; speech and language therapists; neuro-psychologists; neurologic music therapist; prosthetic and orthotic specialists and amongst other nurses experienced in complex care. Role Summary

To ensure that the highest standards of cleanliness are maintained in all areas of the STEPS facility, and carry out all laundry requirements, reflecting at all times STEPS values and behaviours, working as a key member of the inter-disciplinary team.

We have a flexible schedule of shifts between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Sunday.

Full time hours for this role are 37.5 with part time hours also available.

Specific Responsibilities

  • To carry out all daily cleaning routines as scheduled by the work plan, in line with strict infection control procedures.
  • To ensure colour-coded equipment and cloths are used in the correct areas.
  • To handle and remove waste in line with segregation processes and procedures
  • To be responsible for all client and facility laundry requirements.
  • To assist our clients with their personal laundry and cleaning their own rooms where appropriate.
  • To ensure all cleaning materials are used as directed and kept securely and safely in compliance with COSHH regulations.
  • To work in conjunction with nursing and therapy staff teams in order to maintain a clean, safe and homely environment.
  • To assist with ensuring clients water jugs are replenished and replaced as needed

Person Specification

Essential

  • GCSE in Maths and English or equivalent
  • Clear awareness and understanding / experience of delivery of excellent customer service
  • Excellent organisational Skills
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
  • Creative and innovative approach, inclusive and engaging approach to client care
  • Excellent communicator both written and verbal / demonstrate excellent listening skills
  • Able to form key working relationships with colleagues, understand the dynamics of interdisciplinary working

Desirable

  • IT skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of COSHH
  • Knowledge and understanding of waste segregation
  • Knowledge and understanding of Infection Control
