Senior Rehabilitation Physiotherapist (Fixed term 14 months)

Salary: £38,750-£46,300 pro rata

Reports to: Jamie Storey, Lead Physiotherapist

Location: Alexander House, 30 Troutbeck Road, Sheffield S7 2QA

Hours of work: 30 per week

Purpose of the role: To provide high quality holistic therapy to our clients throughout their journey, aligned with STEPS values and behaviours and working as a key member of the inter-disciplinary team.


Specific responsibilities

  • To assess, implement and monitor individual rehabilitation plans for our clients
  • To involve clients and carers in the development and delivery and accurate recording of goals within the rehabilitation plan
  • Accurate recording and monitoring of outcome measures 
  • To play an active part in client review meetings, including completing reports to a high standard and in a timely manner
  • To be involved as a key worker for nominated clients
  • Provide clinical leadership, support and guidance to other STEPS team members
  • To act upon and escalate issues as required following STEPS guidance and operating procedures
  • To be compliant with the clinical governance requirements operating within STEPS procedures
  • To be involved in clinical audits as and when directed
  • To contribute and lead on specific projects related to service delivery e.g. quality programmes, education and training and contributing to the setting and monitoring of practice standards 
  • In conjunction with the wider interdisciplinary team ensure personal care and nutritional needs of clients are met, dealing with emergencies as required.
  • To undertake duties and responsibilities as defined in the work plan.

Degree level qualification in Physiotherapy or equivalent qualification

Evidence of postgraduate courses/ qualifications within a related specialism  

Qualification/ short courses in staff management/ supervision
Membership CSP and relevant special interest groups  

Key trainer/ train the trainer qualification.    

Leadership, mentorship or supervisory course  

Clinical Educators Course

Special Skills & Attributes   
ExperienceExperience of working in different areas of rehabilitation to include at least 2 of the following specialities: Complex trauma rehabilitation, Spinal injury rehabilitation, amputee rehabilitation, Neurorehabilitation  

IT experience, including Microsoft Office packages  

Experience of working within governance frameworks e.g. clinical systems/ data management/ complaints untoward incidents  

Demonstrable experience and working knowledge of the Data Protection Act

Supervising and supporting junior staff members  

Documented evidence of continuing professional development   

Experience of writing medical reports    
Specialist Rehabilitation experience in functional neurological disorders and other uncommon neurological presentations  

Experience in delivering aquatic therapy    Experience in vestibular assessment.  

Experience in respiratory rehabilitation

Experience in Tracheostomy care and weaning   

Experience of training package development and delivery across relevant subject e.g. Data Protection / Clinical Training   

Experience of working in an interdisciplinary team within an acute or specialist rehabilitation setting   

Experience of working in a private medical setting   

Experience of writing medico – legal reports 

Experience of audit functions
