STEPS' client, Dr Ed Hudson, is featured in the Brain & Spinal Injury Handbook 2025/2026
Dr Ed Hudson suffered a life-changing spinal cord injury when he was knocked off his bike by a motorist in Nottingham in February 2018. Although the collision was low-impact, Ed sustained a fractured and dislocated neck (C4/5), which required extensive surgery. He transferred to STEPS in September 2018 for nine months of intensive rehabilitation.

Every rehabilitation journey is unique. That’s why we offer a wide range of therapies to suit all our clients. One of the things that makes us unique is the range of therapies we can offer and they are all delivered under one roof. Each client rehabilitation plan includes a unique combination of therapies and medical treatment based on their individual needs. We have an onsite hydrotherapy pool, large therapy gym and 3 skills kitchens plus many other spaces around the building we can use for therapy. We provide neuro  physiotherapy, muscular skeletal physiotherapy, occupational therapy, neurologic music therapy, speech and language therapy and neuro psychology, to name but a few.

Clients, families, professionals and visitors alike tell us that not only do the surroundings at STEPS feel like home-from-home, the atmosphere does too. All our 23 bedrooms are individually furnished with their own ensuite wet room and can be specifically adapted for different levels of independence. As a new purpose-built rehabilitation facility, our rooms are modern and spacious. The stunning atrium café is the social hub of STEPS where clients meet with family and friends for a deliciously nutritious meal that’s all cooked on-site by our talented chefs. There are also many social activities taking place in the evenings!
