As part of our continued investment in creating a welcoming, homely environment for clients, STEPS Rehabilitation has recently completed further refurbishments to several of our bedrooms and garden areas.
The upgrades focus particularly meet the needs of our spinal cord injury clients, ensuring that comfort, dignity and independence remain central to the rehabilitation programmes we provide.
Key bedroom enhancements include:
- Newly fitted en-suite bathrooms, designed for ease of use and accessibility.
- Integrated handrails and safety fixtures, providing greater security and support.
- Upgraded ceiling hoist systems, offering clients more freedom and reducing the need for manual handling.
- Thoughtfully chosen finishes, including new accent chairs, curtains, and light fittings, creating a warm, stylish, and non-clinical atmosphere.
Our refurbished bedrooms can be seen in the images below.

Easier Access to Outdoor Spaces
In addition to the bedroom upgrades, we’ve introduced a new, accessible resin-bound [CC1] garden path, ensuring all clients, including wheelchair users, can enjoy the therapeutic benefits of our outdoor spaces with ease and confidence.
Spending time outdoors is a vital part of the rehabilitation journey, and these improvements ensure that everyone can enjoy the calming, restorative environment of our gardens.
These upgrades reflect ongoing feedback from clients, families, and staff, and form part of our continued mission to create spaces that support rehabilitation — both physically and emotionally.
“At STEPS, we know that rehabilitation takes time, and the right environment can make all the difference. These latest improvements are a direct reflection of our belief that rehabilitation should happen in surroundings that feel comforting, dignified, and supportive of independence.”
