STEPS Rehabilitation has been shortlisted in the Family Business category at the Yorkshire Business of the Year Awards 2026.
Founded in 2017 by sisters Jules Shiel-Boulger and Toria Chan, alongside their father Ray Boulger, STEPS Rehabilitation was launched to transform delivery of specialist neurological and complex trauma rehabilitation for individuals following serious injury or illness. STEPS is independently owned and run by the founding family, the organisation continues to grow with purpose, driven by values, not profit, ensuring that clients remain at the centre of every decision.
From its purpose-built facility in Sheffield, STEPS has already supported over 400 individuals following spinal cord and brain injuries, traumatic amputations and complex polytrauma injuries. The service brings together world-leading technology, specialist therapy and clinical care to provide holistic rehabilitation, under one roof, all within a warm, welcoming environment that feels more like home than clinical setting.
As a family-led business, STEPS stands apart for its long-term vision, compassion and commitment to doing things differently. Their ongoing success reflects not only clinical excellence, but also the resilience, heart and innovation that comes from a truly values-based approach.
Co-founder Jules Shiel-Boulger said:
“We are absolutely delighted to be shortlisted at the Yorkshire Business Awards 2026. Being recognised in the Family Business category is especially meaningful to us, as STEPS was launched by my sister Toria and me, together with our father, Ray. From the very beginning we shared a belief that rehabilitation could, and should be more personal, more compassionate and more innovative. Family has always been at the heart of STEPS, guiding every decision we make and enabling us to remain true to those values every single day.”
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 19th February 2026 at New Dock Hall, Leeds.
