STEPS Rehabilitation and STEPS Prosthetics have been shortlisted for the Medilink North of England Healthcare Business Awards 2026, recognising excellence and innovation across the region’s healthcare and life sciences sector.
The nomination recognises our pioneering residential amputee rehabilitation programme. This collaborative model combines specialist interdisciplinary rehabilitation with on-site prosthetic design, fitting and ongoing clinical support, creating a complete pathway post surgery to rehabilitation to life-long care.
Based in Sheffield, the programme offers one of the UK’s only fully integrated residential amputee rehabilitation services, designed to ensure seamless coordination between rehabilitation and prosthetic provision. Through this partnership, clients benefit from direct access to prosthetic expertise alongside intensive rehabilitation, enabling therapy programmes and prosthetic adjustments to be delivered quickly and efficiently.
Clients are able to access early post-operative admission, allowing rehabilitation and prosthetic assessment to begin within weeks of surgery. By integrating prosthetic provision with specialist therapy from the outset, the programme can significantly accelerate recovery and improve long-term outcomes.
The service integrates a wide range of therapies, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychological support, and advanced rehabilitation technology within a dedicated residential environment. Working alongside prosthetic and orthotic specialists, supporting individuals to regain mobility, confidence, and independence following traumatic amputation.
Winners will be announced on 30th April at the annual Medilink ceremony celebrating healthcare innovation across the North of England.
