Role Summary

The role of IT Technician is to provide hands on support to the STEPS Team, in conjunction with the IT Infrastructure Engineer, with day-to-day support requests.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, has excellent communication skills and is keen to develop their technical expertise with both hardware and software issues.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Support the STEPS Team with day-to-day IT related issues as first-line support reporting into the IT infrastructure engineer.
  • Dealing with user requests in person, using our ticket system and via email.
  • Work as an administrator on technologies such as Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
  • Setting up new devices for team members such as desktops, laptops, mobile phones and ipads.
  • Provide training to our team members in order to upskill them with using their devices and our systems.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving IT related problems, with the support of the IT Infrastructure Engineer and our external support provider.
  • Liaise with external vendors as needed in relation to our equipment.
  • Work with our Administration team to assist with administration tasks.
  • Work alongside our Facilities Team to assist with the implementation of new systems, working collaboratively to install them, such as CCTV.
  • Aid in implementation of IT infrastructure in relation to estate development.
  • Manage our ticket queue, progressing issues promptly and escalating where needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of software, hardware and firmware assets.
  • Undertake training and personal development to enhance your skills.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Any IT or computer science certification/qualification
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally & written.
  • Research skills Computer literate, knowledge of Word & Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of troubleshooting, repairing and replacing IT-related hardware and resolving software-related problems on Windows, Android, iOS and macOS.
  • Knowledge of using Windows Active Directory.
  • A keen awareness of security and confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills so that complex IT changes or concepts can be conveyed to team members, and others.
  • Dynamic and flexible to respond to the needs of the service as required.
  • A good listener, empathic and compassionate.
  • Able to form key working relationships with colleagues, understand the dynamics of team working.
  • Creative and innovative approach.
  • Inclusive and engaging communicator both verbally and with written communication.
  • Ability to demonstrate an awareness of equality and diversity obligations.

Desirable

  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network +
  • Microsoft Certifications
  • Working knowledge of on-site server maintenance.
  • Knowledge of using Command Prompt and/or Windows PowerShell.
  • Experience in networking and maintaining a network.
  • Experience of mobile device management (MDM)
  • Experience in telephony – Specifically 3CX
  • Previous healthcare setting experience.
  • Confidence in delivering training to small groups.
