Ash re‑joined the STEPS team in April 2026 as Head Rehabilitation Assistant, bringing with her a wealth of experience across health, social care, and rehabilitation. Returning to STEPS is an exciting new chapter, and Ash is looking forward to developing in this role and reconnecting with both team and clients.
Ash began their career as a support worker in a residential setting for children with a wide range of additional needs. This early experience shaped her understanding of what meaningful care truly involves—supporting individuals with dignity, patience, creativity, and a commitment to helping each person thrive.
Ash first joined STEPS when the service was newly established and had the unique opportunity to watch it grow from the ground up. During her 18 months as a Lead Rehabilitation Assistant, she worked closely with a dedicated team and saw first-hand the strong sense of collaboration and shared purpose that continues to define the service today.
Inspired by her time at STEPS, Ash moved into case management, supporting clients in their own homes following traumatic injury and working alongside interdisciplinary teams. What began as a hands‑on rehabilitation role evolved into a leadership position within a growing case management company, now supporting more than 100 clients and employing over 100 support workers. A key milestone in her journey was becoming CQC registered, which led to Ash’s role as Lead Support Worker Manager. In this position, she supports the recruitment, training, and ongoing development of care teams, always with a focus on empowering both staff and clients to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Ash is deeply passionate about care and rehabilitation. She believes that great support work requires not only knowledge and skill, but also compassion, personality, and a genuine commitment to others. For Ash, the role of a Rehabilitation Assistant is central to a client’s journey, encouraging, guiding, and celebrating every step forward. This aligns closely with STEPS’ values of delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care and empowering individuals to reach their full potential.
"What I am most looking forward to in this role is building strong, meaningful relationships with both clients and staff. I’m passionate about really getting to know the people we support—their goals, their motivations, and what matters most to them—so we can help them achieve the best possible outcomes. Just as importantly, I am committed to supporting our Rehabilitation Assistants—helping them build confidence, develop their skills, and feel valued in the incredible work they do every day."
Outside of work, Ash leads a busy family life with two children and a black Labrador. She enjoys getting outdoors for long walks, especially when there’s a good pub at the end!
"Please do come and say hello—I’d love to meet you, whether you’re part of the team or one of the clients we support. I’m incredibly proud to be back at STEPS and excited for what’s ahead—supporting the team, building connections, and most importantly, helping our clients achieve their goals."
