STEPS is purpose built and designed to feel more like a home or hotel than a residential facility. It is set over 3 floors and the whole building and gardens have been designed for rehabilitation.

On the ground floor we have a large double height cafe/dining space that is used by clients, families and the STEPS team. This is a beautiful light space that feels like a real cafe! Our expert chefs run kitchen demo groups in this space and our wellbeing team run art groups around the big refectory table.

We have a large therapy gym that has bifold doors opening onto an undercover rehab area. This leads into the garden area which runs along side the river Sheaf.

We have a stainless steel hydrotherapy pool, with a ceiling track hoist and 2 large wet room/ changing rooms. This room is one of many of our rooms that is fitted with a blue tooth music system so you can choose your own music for your aquatic therapy session.

Our clinic room is a versatile space designed to support a wide range of rehabilitation needs. It includes a consultation area with a plinth, wall bar, and ample room for wheelchair accessibility. Additionally, it features a kitchen area with a splinting bath, essential for our custom orthotic services, offered in collaboration with STEPS Prosthetics.

Making the transition from hospital to home after a life-changing event can be daunting. It can mean adapting to huge changes, new ways of managing day to day routines and life skills such as getting washed and dressed or preparing meals, through to a change in more meaningful roles such as education, being a partner, parenting or returning to work.

Our rehabilitation team will work with you to maximise your recovery, adapt to these changes and support you to return to the appropriate community setting with the right follow up and support. We take a 24hr approach to your rehabilitation supporting you with activities of daily living based sessions to support your progression to 24hr routine of self-care, household management, and social/community engagement and return to work.

All of the bedrooms are spread over the upper two floors together with:

  • a craft kitchen
  • RehabHub Robotic suite
  • skills kitchens
  • lounge/music room with a baby grand piano
  • treatment room
  • meeting room

We have one apartment for independent living trials on our top floor and 4 of our bedrooms make up our transitional living unit. These 4 bedrooms share an accessible kitchen area and lounge space. This is a popular space for our Friday Juice club, breakfast and lunch groups and film nights.
