The medicinal and therapeutic properties of water have been celebrated for centuries. Being in water brings with it an array of both physical and mental benefits, which is why our hydrotherapy pool and aquatic therapy sessions are popular part of clients’ rehabilitation programme.
Hydrotherapy is the use of water in the treatment of a variety of medical conditions. More specifically, aquatic therapy is a programme utilising the properties of water, designed by a suitably qualified physiotherapist specifically for an individual to maximise function, which can be physical, physiological or psychological.
Our aquatic therapy treatments are carried out in our state-of-the-art stainless-steel hydrotherapy pool with a water temperature of around 34 degrees. The warm water creates a wonderful environment and helps with pain relief, muscle relaxation and increased freedom of movement, which aids the rehabilitation process.
As you would expect, our hydrotherapy pool is fully accessible to wheelchair users and individuals with limited mobility via a ceiling hoist. The changing rooms are fully accessible too, with the option of shower chairs or shower bed.
All STEPS physiotherapists are aquatically trained and we currently have two therapists accredited through the Aquatic Therapy Association for Chartered Physiotherapists.
