Emma completed her Occupational Therapy training at Sheffield Hallam University in 2015. She immediately joined her local NHS trust as an Occupational Therapist working in General Medicine, Trauma and Orthopaedic unit and Spinal Injuries where she developed a passion for neuro rehab. Emma then moved into the Community NHS Sector as part of her role to work in Intermediate Rehab Units with clients with varied neurological conditions such as Stroke, Parkinson’s Disease and MS. Her caseload also included Orthopaedic injuries, Geriatric falls, and clients with complex multiple conditions.
She subsequently joined the Sheffield Wheelchair and Specialist Seating Services where she worked with both adults and paediatrics with different forms of neurological and musculoskeletal issues to identify best seating solutions to meet their postural and comfort needs.
Emma later sought to broaden her knowledge and enhanced her skills during the Pandemic where she worked in a fast-paced A +E setting primarily to prevent hospital admissions and support early discharge home from hospital.
After several years in the NHS, she decided to move to the private sector and return to neuro rehab where she joined STEPS Rehabilitation. Emma is passionate about OT and continues to seek opportunities to develop herself and her profession. Emma enjoys long walks and patch gardening.
