Dale joined the STEPS team in July 2022, initially working within the Reception and Administration team. Originally from Doncaster, Dale moved to Sheffield in 2014 to pursue higher education at Sheffield Hallam University, where he later completed both undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
With more than a decade of experience across theatre and film, Dale has built an extensive and diverse career in the performing arts. Beginning his journey on stage, he appeared in a wide range of productions from a young age, including early roles in Annie, Bugsy Malone, Fame, The Roses of Eyam, and Blood Brothers—the latter of which he performed three times throughout his career.
As his passion and craft developed, Dale went on to take on more complex and demanding roles in productions such as Equus, The Exam, Animal Farm, Vinegar Tom, Spring Awakening, The Breakfast Club, Posh, Laugh Out Loud (Cry Quietly), Morning, After the End, and The Tempest. His work across these varied productions reflects his versatility, emotional range, and dedication to storytelling.
Alongside his stage work, Dale has continuously expanded into screen performance. His film credits include 45 Minutes, How to Live Yours, Slave Boys, Mater Mortem (winner of a Royal Television Society Award), 2.2.19, and the feature film Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. This blend of independent and high-profile projects highlights his ability to adapt his craft across mediums while embracing new creative challenges.
From intimate stage plays to award-winning screen work, Dale’s career showcases a long-standing commitment to performance, exploration, and artistic growth. He remains passionate about the performing arts and continues to pursue opportunities that challenge and inspire.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dale developed a strong interest in digital marketing and multimedia communications. This led him to pursue a Master’s degree in Multimedia Journalism at Sheffield Hallam University, where he graduated with First Class Honours and was recognised as a three-time Hallam Award winner.
In March 2023, Dale was appointed Marketing and Communications Assistant at STEPS. In this role, he works closely with the Directors and Scala, supporting STEPS' digital media, marketing strategies, and brand development. His creative background and journalistic training bring a unique perspective to the communications function at STEPS.
Fun fact: Dale has had the opportunity to work alongside Richard E. Grant and Jodie Whittaker.
