Dave’s passion for cooking began during his school years, when a week of work experience in a professional kitchen confirmed that he had found the career path he wanted to pursue. He went on to complete a three-year Chef’s Diploma while gaining valuable hands-on experience working at a local country pub.

Following his qualification, Dave broadened his culinary experience by working at a fine dining Italian restaurant in Chesterfield before moving to a four-star hotel. Here, he gained experience across a diverse range of catering environments, from preparing large-scale banquets to helping develop new dishes and menus.

Before joining STEPS in 2017, Dave worked at the award-winning Tickled Trout gastro pub, where he was quickly promoted to Sous Chef. His role involved menu development and creating new dishes, as well as working alongside the team on various culinary projects. His talent and dedication were recognised when he was named Westside Magazine’s Young Chef of the Year in 2017. The following year, he was invited back to the competition to help deliver a cooking demonstration.

Dave joined the STEPS team at the end of 2017 and has continued to develop his skills and contribute to the high-quality dining experience provided to our clients and team members. In September 2026, Dave became Head Chef at STEPS.

Outside of work, Dave enjoys walking in the Peak District, supporting Sheffield Wednesday, playing five-a-side football and going for a morning run. He is also a keen reader, particularly enjoying crime thrillers, and loves experimenting with new recipes and cooking for his housemates at home.

Dave’s favourite place to visit is Barcelona, which he has now visited five times.
