Heather joined the STEPS team in May 2024. She qualified as an Occupational Therapist at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa in 2019. During her studies, Heather developed a particular interest in physical rehabilitation, rehabilitation of the hand and paediatrics. After graduating, she worked for a year at an Infectious Disease Government Hospital in South Africa, working with both adults and children primarily with treatment resistant Tuberculosis and related physical conditions.

In 2021, Heather emigrated to the UK with her sister. She worked at a school in Manchester with children on the Autism spectrum, and later worked for the Rotherham Community Paediatric service, working with children with neurological, developmental and physical conditions.

"I joined the STEPS team in because I wanted to return to rehabilitation to progress my treatment skills and continue to learn and grow as a therapist."

When not at work, Heather can be found reading a good book, muddling through a cryptic crossword or exploring a craft like painting, drawing or crocheting.
