Johancine (Jojo) joined the STEPS team in May 2024. She grew up in Sheffield before moving to Leeds in 2013. Jojo knew she wanted to be in the medical field all her life but found passion in nursing when her mum became poorly and saw the amazing hands on care she received, then was taught to look after her post her surgery.

She started as an apprentice Healthcare Assistant at Pinderfields Hospital in 2020 on an elderly ward. She loved it but felt like there was just something missing. Jojo soon began training as a Trainee Nursing Associate with Huddersfield University, and qualified in 2023. She received her training and found her love in Spinal Injuries. She remained in Pinderfields’s working in Spinal Injures rehabilitation and was the link nurse in bowel care.

"I heard amazing things about STEPs and a lot of my patients would go here for more rehabilitation. I’ve missed Sheffield and it was time I came back home. My main love about rehabilitation is the family environment that comes with it. Much like Dominic Torretto. But nothing brings me greater joy than watching people being discharged as completely new and proud person and knowing I played a role in that."

Jojo is multilingual and lives her Congolese heritage mixed with a bit of everything else. She loves spending time with her family and board games are her go to. She also loves Marvel and music. Outside of work, Jojo is currently completing a digital marketing course as loves learning. She also spends time doing religious activities too.
