After graduating from the London College of Fashion, Laura began her career in the fashion industry, where she established herself over many years as a highly respected Senior Buyer. Later, she transitioned into academia, sharing her industry knowledge as a lecturer at the University of Westminster, where she taught on the BA Fashion Buying and Merchandising programme. Following three decades in London, Laura made the decision to return to her roots in Sheffield, relocating with her husband and two children.
In November 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she joined the STEPS team as part of the Reception team—a move she describes as both unexpected and rewarding.
Reflecting on her career shift, Laura notes, “I’ve learnt to adapt my skill base and career experiences and been lucky enough to work with a great team of people. It’s never too late to learn something new! I love everything STEPS stands for.” Her ability to transfer skills across industries speaks to her adaptability, professionalism, and enthusiasm for continuous growth.
Laura now works closely with the Admissions team in her role as Admissions and Referrals Administrator, where she supports the client onboarding process with compassion, efficiency, and strong organisational skills.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys exploring the Peak District and spending quality time with her family. She’s also known for her love of ABBA and the occasional gin.
