Peter is a Consultant General Surgeon and experienced healthcare manager. He attained his medical degrees in 1993 and completed surgical training working across the UK and also in Australia. He has been a consultant surgeon since 2004 working in the NHS and private sectors. He has published widely including a surgical textbook, and co-authoring national guidelines. He has been part of faculty at the European Surgical institute in Hamburg. He has also worked as a biotechnology advisor for Johnson and Johnson in the past.

Peter has held a variety of senior management posts in healthcare:

While working at Chesterfield Royal Hospital he was initially audit and research lead, and then Associate Clinical Director for Surgical Services. He was Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee for Chatsworth Suite in Chesterfield from 2011-2016.

Peter worked with One Health Group from 2012-2018 where he established a surgical division and was executive lead for this until he left, and was Associate Director of Clinical Services Development for the group 2015-2018.

Peter was appointed Chair of the Supervisory Board at Claremont Hospital in 2013 and Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee in 2018 (previously vice-chair) and he remains in these roles.

Peter now works with a number of groups of clinicians and managers around the country, while maintaining his own clinical practice.

Outside work Peter is married with 4 children and a keen sportsman, representing Great Britain for Age Group Triathlon, taking a silver medal for GB in the 2018 European Championships in Estonia.
