Ross first joined the STEPS team in January 2019 as a Rehabilitation Assistant. Eighteen months later, he transitioned into a Therapy Assistant role, supporting all therapy disciplines—a natural progression aligned with his background in sports rehabilitation. He later stepped into the role of Technical Instructor, focusing more closely on the Physiotherapy team and deepening his involvement in client recovery.
After leaving STEPS, Ross spent three months interrailing across Europe, followed by a brief (and unintentional!) break before returning to university. In January 2023, he began his Master’s degree in Physiotherapy at the University of York, which he completed in March 2025.
Ross returned to STEPS driven by two main reasons: the fulfilment of supporting clients through their rehabilitation journeys, and the strong, supportive team culture. “Seeing the positive changes in clients and playing even a small part in that progress is what motivates me every day,” he says. “It was hard stepping away from that while studying. But what brought me back just as much was the team—everyone’s commitment to recovery and the uplifting environment makes this place special.”
Though the STEPS facility continues to evolve with new faces, equipment, and artwork, Ross believes its core remains unchanged: a place where meaningful, positive change happens every day. And yes—he can confirm the food is still as delicious as ever.
