Contract details: Full time (37.5 hours per week) or part-time (minimum 24 hours), days, nights and weekends, permanent contracts
Role Summary
As a Rehabilitation Assistant you will provide high quality therapeutic care to STEPS clients in line with their care and rehabilitation plans, whilst supporting the client to be as independent as possible. You will work with and support our inter-disciplinary team of nurses and therapists.

Specific Responsibilities
- To provide a high standard of personal care to STEPS clients in line with their care and rehabilitation plans.
- To assist with therapeutic care including bathing, bed making, assisting with eating and drinking.
- To provide rehabilitation support to STEPS clients in line with their rehabilitation care plans, often providing a first port of call for clients needs for example delivering a stretching programme, supporting with speech and language exercises and supporting with activities related to their goals.
- To work with and support an inter-disciplinary team of nurses, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, psychology team and occupational therapists
- To support clients with hospital visits.
- To support clients in the community individually or as a small group for a range of activities including visiting the park, bowling, shopping, archery, attending events such as the snooker world championships or para ice hockey with other members of the STEPS team
- To provide feedback to the senior team on how clients are progressing with their rehabilitation, escalating issues and concerns in accordance with STEPS Policies and Procedures.
Additional duties as assigned by either the Senior Rehabilitation Assistant Coordinator, Senior Rehabilitation Assistant or Senior Nurse on duty.
Person Specifications
Essential
- Eligibility to work in the UK. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide sponsorship for this post.
- GCSE Maths and English grade C or above or grade 4 or above
- A demonstrable inclusive and engaging approach to client rehabilitation
- Able to form relationships with colleagues, understanding the importance of team working
- Excellent communication skills, adopting communication styles as needed to meet the needs of clients
- Competent user of a range of IT software packages and ability to learn new systems
Desirable
- Experience of working with people with care and/or rehabilitation needs (paid or voluntary)
- NVQ II or equivalent qualification in a relevant or related field Safeguarding Level 2 / 3 training Care Certificate First Aid Training
- Experience working within a care / rehabilitation setting.
- Experience working with people with complex care needs.
- Experience communicating with people with complex. communication needs and ability to adapt accordingly
- Client record/note keeping experience.
- Driver experience in wheelchair accessible vehicles (training is provided)
- Understanding of CQC Regulations, the Health and Social Care Act.
- Experience of working to clinical procedures and processes.
- Demonstrable experience and working knowledge of the Data Protection Act, Client Confidentiality, Equality and Diversity
