Experience not necessary: Start your career in rehabilitation with STEPS Rehabilitation
If you’re looking for a role where you can genuinely make a difference every day, grow your skills, and be part of a supportive, values driven team, this could be the perfect place to begin your journey in care and specialist rehabilitation. We provide full, bespoke in house training, ongoing development, and the chance to learn from an exceptional interdisciplinary team including nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, and speech & language therapists.
You will be working closely with clients, often as their first port of call, throughout their journey with STEPS as they re-build their lives, so you will see first-hand the impact of your work and witness clients achieve things they never thought possible. This includes therapeutic personal care and supporting therapy and leisure activities with our clients, if you have not got experience or worked in a similar role before we can provide all the training required and you will have the full support of our experienced team.
This role is a fantastic opportunity for graduates of care or therapy related courses who are looking to gain experience that will help inform and drive their future career choices.
If you are looking for a role that will give you insight into multiple professions all under one roof, the role of an RA is perfect. RA’s at STEPS have been accepted onto competitive degree courses or gone on to work in other roles at STEPS within care/nursing or therapy as their skills and interests developed.
You’ll be welcomed into a team that supports one another, celebrates progress, and works together to deliver outstanding therapeutic care and therapy.
What you’ll be doing
As a Rehabilitation Assistant, you will:
- Provide high quality personal care and rehabilitation support in line with individual care plans
- Work alongside nurses and therapists to deliver evidence based rehabilitation
- Support clients with daily activities, mobility, communication, and therapy sessions
- Build trusting, respectful relationships with clients and their families
- Communicate clearly and compassionately, adapting to each person’s needs
- Contribute to a safe, positive, and empowering environment
- Be a first point of contact for clients’ day-to-day needs
- Support new team members and uphold our Code of Conduct and values
Every day is different — and every day you’ll see the impact of your work.
Who we’re looking for
You don’t need previous care or rehabilitation experience. We’re looking for people who are:
- Kind, patient, and genuinely motivated by helping others
- Excellent communicators both verbally and in writing with strong listening skills
- Respectful, reliable, and able to work as part of a team
- Positive, proactive, and eager to learn
- Comfortable using a computer and tablet to communicate using Microsoft Teams, Outlook and our electronic records software (you will be contemporaneously documenting all of your interactions with our clients as part of your role)
- Able to maintain dignity, confidentiality, professionalism, and compassion at all times
Essential:
- GCSE Maths & English (C/4 or above)
- Care Certificate (you will be supported to complete this when you start if you do not possess this)
- A positive attitude
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care
- Relevant degree in care or rehabilitation
- Experience supporting people with care or rehabilitation needs
- First aid or safeguarding training
- Full UK driving licence
What success looks like in this role
- Clients making meaningful progress because of your support
- Strong, trusting relationships with colleagues and clients
- Professionalism, empathy, and reliability in every interaction
- Confidence in delivering care and supporting therapy sessions
- Growing your skills and contributing to our positive team culture
- Opportunities to progress to a senior RA position
