Specific Responsibilities

  • Assess, implement and monitor individual care plans for our clients.
  • Honour STEPS values by demonstrating appropriate behaviours and encouraging this in others.
  • Contribute to staff development i.e. appraisals and supervisions.
  • Ensure the provision of appropriate supervision and support for members of the team.
  • To be involved in the day to day audit process as required.
  • Facilitate and co-ordinate the activities of the team.
  • Have responsibility and accountability for the overall quality of client care delivery including meetings and reviews.
  • Lead the unit on a day to day basis in the absence of senior management.
  • Involve clients and carers in the development and delivery of goals within the care plan.
  • Lead on the unit as and when directed to provide clinical leadership, support and guidance to other staff members.
  • Act upon and escalate issues as required following STEPS guidance and operating procedures.
  • Administer medications and treatment as prescribed, monitor effects and report as defined.
  • Be compliant within clinical governance requirements operating within STEPS procedures.
  • Support clinical audits as and when directed.
  • Contribute and lead on specific projects related to service delivery e.g. quality programmes, education and training and contributing to the setting and monitoring of practice standards.
  • Carrying out all procedures relating to the personal care and nutritional needs of clients dealing with emergencies as required.
  • Undertake duties and responsibilities as defined in the work plan.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Registered Nurse on the NMC register
  • Approved mentorship or teaching qualification
  • Qualification or short courses in staff management and supervision
  • Experience of working as part of an IDT / MDT
  • Experience of working with complex patients
  • IT experience including Microsoft Office packages
  • Experience of working within governance frameworks e.g. clinical systems / data management / complaints untoward incidents
  • Demonstrable experience and working knowledge of the Data Protection Act
  • Creative and innovative approach, inclusive and engaging approach to client care
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communicator both written and verbal /demonstrate excellent listening skills
  • Able to form key working relationships with colleagues, understand the dynamics of interdisciplinary working

Desirable

  • A non-medical prescribing qualification (eg V300)
  • Masters Modules or degree in relevant area, e.g. rehabilitation, tissue viability
  • Key trainer/train the trainer qualification.
  • Leadership or supervisory course
  • Rehabilitation experience. e.g. amputee, neuro, spinal injuries
  • Trauma experience
  • Experience of liaising with professionals from wide ranging disciplines
  • Experience of training package development and delivery across relevant subject e.g. data protection / clinical training
  • Experience of audit functions
  • Transferable skills that can be used to enhance a client’s rehabilitation journey, e.g. playing an instrument, having an ability / understanding of accessible sports and hobbies

Application process

First stage: visit to our facility for a tour and introductory meeting with our Head of Nursing or one of our Lead Nurses.

Second stage: formal interview involving the Clinical Director and completion of a task.
