Senior Nurse
As a Senior Nurse at STEPS you will be ensuring that our clients receive high-quality, holistic nursing care throughout their journey with us. You will work as a key member of the inter-disciplinary team to support our clients, respecting their privacy and dignity and promoting independence. While you are carrying out your duties you will be aligned with STEPS values and behaviours at all times.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To assess, implement and monitor individual care plans for our clients
• To honour STEPS values by demonstrating appropriate behaviours and encouraging this in others
• To contribute to staff development i.e. appraisals and supervisions
• To ensure the provision of appropriate supervision and support for members of the team
• To be involved in the day to day audit process as required
• To facilitate and co-ordinate the activities of the team
• To have responsibility and accountability for the overall quality of client care delivery including meetings and reviews
• To lead the unit on a day to day basis in the absence of senior management
• To involve clients and carers in the development and delivery of goals within the care plan
• To take the lead on the unit as and when directed to provide clinical leadership, support and guidance to other staff members
• To act upon and escalate issues as required following STEPS guidance and operating procedures
• To administer medications and treatment as prescribed, monitor effects and report as defined
• To be compliant with the clinical governance requirements operating within STEPS procedures
• To be involved in clinical audits as and when directed
• To contribute and lead on specific projects related to service delivery e.g. quality programmes, education and training and contributing to the setting and monitoring of practice standards
• Carrying out all procedures relating to the personal care and nutritional needs of clients dealing with emergencies as required.

To develop effective relationships with clients, carers, the STEPS team suppliers and others as from time to time may be required.
To maintain accurate and detailed records of all interventions using the electronic notes system and other specified systems as applicable.
PEOPLE and ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
To be responsible for day-to-day workload allocation interacting with the STEPS team as appropriate.
To be responsible for providing input to training both in development and/or delivery as required from time to time by the STEPS OD strategy.
To be responsible for undertaking appraisals for a nominated staff group in line with the appraisal process.
To take an active role in the recruitment and selection process as and when required in conjunction with other members of the STEPS team.
To ensure all absences are recorded and escalated in line with the STEPS Sickness and Absence Management Policy.
To undertake a return to work discussion with staff as required by the Sickness and Absence Management Policy.
To be responsible for the informal stages of the grievance, conduct and capability policy capturing the key points and referring to the Head of Nursing or Directors as required.
To be responsible for the delivery of both informal and formal training programmes as and when required in conjunction with other members of the STEPS team.
