On 3rd October 2024, we were thrilled to host our inaugural 'STEPS Amputee Conference 2024' in partnership with STEPS Prosthetics. Held at the prestigious Grand Hotel in York, this event served as a platform to highlight our unique Residential Amputee Rehabilitation Programme and the benefits of our holistic, interdisciplinary approach.

We were privileged to welcome a wide range of professionals from neurorehabilitation, healthcare, legal sectors, and case management, all of whom play a pivotal role in supporting the recovery journey of amputees.

Members of the STEPS Rehabilitation team shared their expertise on various aspects of amputee rehabilitation, discussing the importance of timely medical management post-hospital discharge, the psychological impact of limb loss, and how our interdisciplinary approach lays the foundation for a successful residential rehabilitation programme.

We were especially honoured to have Professor Rickard Brånemark, the world’s leading expert in osseointegration surgery, as our keynote speaker. Professor Brånemark provided invaluable insights into the latest advancements and emerging opportunities in extremity reconstruction, drawing on his vast experience and pioneering work in the field.

Throughout the day, delegates also heard the personal stories shared by STEPS clients, who courageously spoke about their rehabilitation journeys and the profound impact our amputee programme has had on their recovery.

A standout feature of the day was the interactive exhibition space, where delegates had the chance to explore and try out some of the latest advancements in amputee rehabilitation technology. Among the cutting-edge innovations on display were COAPT Pattern Recognition, the Izar® by MindMaze, and the MindMotionGo™ by MindMaze – giving attendees a hands-on experience of how these pioneering technologies can support clients in their recovery.

We would like to extend our thanks to all the speakers, delegates, and team members whose contributions made the conference such a resounding success.
