STEPS Rehabilitation’s Lead Physiotherapist, Jamie Storey, was delighted to take part in a Training Day held at the Northern General Hospital, organised by Mr Pradeep Thumbikat, president of the BSPRM and Clinical Director of the Sheffield Spinal Unit to introduce the doctors of the future, to the world of rehabilitation medicine.

The event brought together leading professionals in all aspects of rehabilitation medicine, providing a platform for learning, collaboration, and hands-on experience across a range of rehabilitation disciplines.

The day featured expert talks and practical sessions from consultants and specialists including Dr Lisa Grandidge, Dr Jo Corrado, Prof Derick Wade, and Prof Manoj Sivan, alongside first-hand insights from individuals living with spinal cord injuries, such as actor George Robinson and former STEPS client, Dr Ed Hudson. On behalf of STEPS Rehabilitation Jamie showcased the advanced upper limb exoskeleton, MyoPro® Mark 2, and other rehabilitation technologies, including the Stella BIO, Bioness L300 Go and Strolll®, during the practical rotation sessions. These demonstrations highlighted how cutting-edge technology can enhance recovery outcomes and independence for individuals following neurological or spinal injuries.

Reflecting on the event, Dr Ed Hudson said:

“The training day on Saturday was a great event. It was lovely to catch up with Jamie and Pradeep, and to meet everyone, including George Robinson. It felt really good to reconnect with the medical profession and to see all the new people coming through in rehabilitation medicine.”
