Rehabilitation research and development (R&D) is key to providing high-quality, evidence-based rehabilitation and achieving the best possible health and functional outcomes for each individual in our care. Strengthening rehabilitation research is not just important for us; it is a worldwide priority1

At STEPS, we complete our own in-house audits and service evaluation projects to ensure that we are meeting national and international rehabilitation standards and providing high-quality, effective services that meet our clients' needs. As part of our clinical team’s continuous professional development, clinical case studies are regularly reflected upon and learning shared within the team. A monthly journal club led by the R&D team also provides an opportunity for our team to stay up to date with new relevant rehabilitation research.

Alongside these projects, we collaborate with external partners, such as product companies and Universities, on a range of projects from providing feedback on products to influence design, to participating in ethically approved clinical research.

At STEPS, we provide specialist rehabilitation opportunities not available elsewhere; therefore, our knowledge often offers a unique perspective that can be of interest to the wider rehabilitation community. We believe collaboration and knowledge sharing are central to improving the lives of those with neurological and complex injuries and actively look for opportunities to do this. As listed below in more detail, we have had the fortune to share our knowledge and experience at conferences both here in the UK and internationally.

A Selection of Knowledge Shared at Regional and International Conferences

We are grateful to all our clients who have allowed us to (anonymously) share part of their rehabilitation journey at these conferences.
