We recognise that bowel care is a vital part of recovery for individuals living with spinal cord injuries (SCI). With only 37% of NHS trusts having nurses trained in essential bowel care, increasing access to specialist training is crucial. This is why we are proud to raise awareness of the Spinal Injuries Association's first National Paralysed Bowel Care Awareness Day.
Through the STEPS Training School, we are committed to raising standards in bowel care. Darren Bracken and Jennie Foster deliver NMC-accredited training in safe and effective bowel care, equipping the care teams working with clients on their return to home.
Our training covers best practices, including vital bowel and bladder care techniques, ensuring our team and external care teams have the confidence and competence to support individuals with complex needs.
At STEPS, we believe that education is key to successful outcomes. As part of our commitment to ongoing professional development, we support nurses and carers, with the knowledge and practical skills they need to deliver high-quality care.
