STEPS Rehabilitation is delighted to announce the arrival of the first MyoPro Mark 2 upper limb robotic device from Myomo®. Supplied by Rebotics Technology, this next-generation model, which is the first of its kind in the UK and Europe, arrived on Monday 24th February 2025, further strengthening our commitment to providing the most advanced rehabilitation solutions to our clients.
To support the handover and training, Andreas Ludwar, Head of Clinical Training for Europe, joined us from Germany and delivered expert-led training sessions throughout the morning to the STEPS Rehabilitation team. Additionally, Munawar Osman, UK Training Manager and Orthotist, was on-site to ensure a seamless introduction to the MyoPro Mark 2.
The MyoPro Mark 2 marks a significant advancement in rehabilitation technology, helping individuals with upper limb impairments regain function and independence, enabling them to perform everyday tasks that were once challenging or impossible.
"The MyoPro Mark 2 is the latest version available. Its newest features include improved comfort for the patient and greater ease of use for clinicians. Key features include a reduced on-and-off time for clinicians and a single tool to adjust all settings for the patient. The design has undergone multiple changes, including a lighter weight, a slimmer fit, and 3D printing, ensuring progress in the right direction.
The Mark 2 is unique due to its combination of being a rehabilitation tool that guides patients in an ADL (Activities of Daily Living) setting. There is no need to remain inside a building for training—it can be used at the supermarket, outdoors, or during activities that are meaningful for the patient." - Andreas Ludwar
STEPS were also privileged to have the rare opportunity to meet Mark Dick, Senior Mechanical Engineer for Myomo® who joined us from Boston, USA to witness and support the handover of the fist Mark 2 model, which has only just been approved for certification in UK and Europe.
We are really excited to work with Myomo and Rebotics Technology as we introduce the latest model of the Myopro to STEPS. At STEPS, we are committed to embracing cutting-edge rehabilitation technology and working with like-minded forward-thinking companies. This product will play a vital role in helping individuals regain independence and improve their quality of life, and we are excited to integrate this innovative device into our clients’ rehabilitation programmes." – Toria Chan, Founder and Clinical Director at STEPS Rehabilitation.
What is MyoPro?
MyoPro is an advanced myoelectric orthosis designed to assist individuals with upper limb paralysis or weakness due to conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injury, brachial plexus injury, multiple sclerosis, and cerebral palsy.
This custom-fabricated arm brace uses EMG technology to detect faint nerve signals from the skin's surface—without the need for surgery or implants—and activates small motors to move the arm and hand as the user intends. By restoring functionality to the affected limb, MyoPro helps individuals regain independence, allowing them to perform essential daily activities such as eating, carrying objects, and completing household tasks.
STEPS will be an assessment centre for the MyoPro device, individuals can stay for a period of residential rehabilitation incorporating a trial of the MyoPro, which can be used regularly throughout their stay. Reports and recommendations can then be provided to support considerations for the purchase of a personal device.
