Karl (known to many of his friends as Karlos) joined the STEPS team in September 2026. He has spent more than 40 years working in the hotel and restaurant industry. Most recently, Karl spent seven years as Head Chef at the Tickled Trout in Barlow, Derbyshire. During his time there, he helped the restaurant achieve several awards and accolades, including being awarded its second AA Rosette, an achievement of which he is particularly proud.
Outside of work, Karl is a proud father of two grown-up children and grandfather to two grandchildren, with another grandchild on the way.
Karl loves to travel, with Spain and the Greek islands among his favourite destinations. In his spare time, he enjoys spending as much time as possible in the garden, walking in the countryside with his wife and their Frenchie-Pug cross, Stanley, and supporting Sheffield United whenever he gets the chance (even if the results do not always go their way!)
