STEPS Rehabilitation is delighted to announce our collaboration with Fourier in hosting an interactive, two-part workshop at the International Conference on Neurorehabilitation (ICNR) 2024, in La Granja, Spain which will take place between 5th-8th November 2024.
This international conference will bring together researchers and students from the fields of Clinical Rehabilitation, Applied Neurophysiology, and Biomedical Engineering to promote, feed and encourage this therapeutic global shift and bring together researchers and innovators from all around the world to discuss novel approaches, challenges and potential solutions in technologies for wearable robots, especially in the clinical field.
Workshop Highlights
Part 1 – A Case-Study Centred on Clinical Patient Data
This session will engage attendees in an in-depth clinical case study from a Spanish clinic, where they will identify and propose rehabilitation technologies to address a patient’s specific needs. Expert-led demonstrations will offer hands-on exposure to the latest innovations in the field. Participants will work in small groups, fostering collaboration across disciplines as they explore how these technologies can optimise rehabilitation outcomes. The session promises to inspire solutions for enhanced patient care through advanced technology and networking.
Part 2 – From Concept to Clinics: Technology Innovation Workshop
In the second session, participants will tackle a real-life patient case from a Spanish hospital, working under time constraints to develop innovative technological solutions. Divided into multidisciplinary teams, they will be tasked with designing and pitching a concept to a panel of experts, simulating real-world pressures in tech development. This exercise emphasises clinical efficacy, commercialisation potential, and patient-centred design, aiming to prepare attendees for the practical demands of creating market-ready, impactful rehab technologies.
The sessions will feature insights from Sarah Lim of Fourier, Toria Chan from STEPS Rehabilitation, Lana Popovic of Kurage, Patricia Barroso from Mindmaze, Lucy Wright, Head of Therapy STEPS Rehabilitation, and Kostas Falidas, Specialist Rehabilitation Physiotherapist, STEPS Rehabilitation.
Campfire Session Panel Participation: Connecting Industry, Clinicians, and Continuum of Care
Additionally, Toria Chan will participate as a panellist in the Campfire Session, Connecting Industry, Clinicians, and Continuum of Care. This interactive session, co-chaired by Zen Koh and J. Tornero, will connect leading voices from industry, academia, and clinical practice to discuss collaboration models and patient-centred neurorehabilitation innovations, such as robotics, virtual reality, and brain-computer interfaces. This dialogue aims to accelerate the development of personalised rehabilitation solutions that enhance outcomes and quality of life for patients with neurological conditions.
